Secular Humanistic Judaism
Hashomer Hatzair, while based in secular humanism, aims to provide an open and accessible environment that provides a pluralistic space for individuals to interpret Jusaism in their own way.
Progressive Zionism
Hashomer Hatzair should provide a process in which chanichim/ot can understand the background, history, and current events of Zionism so as create and by way of education about democracy and automony, as well as fostering an emotional and intellectual connection to Israel.
Shomeric Education
Shomeric education is an informal, community based, non-hierarchical, youth led form of education that educates towards positive action, critical thinking, and connection to environment and community.
Environmentalism
Hashomer Hatzair envisions a culture in which environmental consciousness is integrated into everyday lives, and educates towards enviornmental lifestyles through academia based and experiential learning.
Social Justice
Hashomer Hatzair envisions social justice as an integral part of the movement particularly as a manifestation of Hagshama. Social justice is a recognition and desire to aid the disempowered and right injustice. It is an application of Shomeric values to the world outside of ourselves through a combination of education and activism.
