Hashomer Hatzair is a socialist-Zionist youth movement dedicated to secular Judaism, a just Israel, equity in all spheres of social life, and solidarity with all peoples. Founded in Europe in 1913, it was one of the motors of the Israeli Kibbutz Movement, a major player on the Israeli Left, a leader of the ghetto uprisings in Europe during the Holocaust, and has always been a steadfast proponent for peace and coexistence between Jews and Arabs.
Our Vision and Mission
Hashomer Hatzair aims to create a culture of empowered youth who are socially active, critical thinkers, and live according to the values of Hashomer Hatzair throughout their lives. This continuously developing culture, rooted in Jewish values, is committed to communal living, universal equity, an involved relationship with Israel, and a holistically sustainable lifestyle.
Through year-round informal youth-led education in urban and rural settings Hashomer Hatzair engages in dialogue and action based on our vision for the world through Jewish experiential learning.
